Man Rescued After Night Locked in Bar

The grad student who had to be rescued from inside a locked Lower East Side bar Friday morning said he dozed off in a bathroom stall — then woke up hours later to find the joint empty and sunlight streaming in.

The embarrassed 23-year-old — who asked that he not be named so he wouldn’t become the “laughingstock” of his friends and family — called 911 for help after waking up to find himself trapped inside the shuttered Marshall Stack Bar on Rivington Street around 7:30 a.m., he told The Post.

“I called 911 and the fire department came,” he said. “I told them I fell asleep in the bathroom and they just laughed.”

The long night’s journey into day began when he walked into the bar around midnight, fresh off of working a 12-hour shift at his office job. Read More…
