Early Representation

Early Representation Can Make All the Difference

There is a window of opportunity between an arrest and the filing of formal charges to avoid criminal prosecution as the State does not initiate formal prosecution against all persons arrested for a criminal offense. The State selects which cases to prosecute. The time period before your first court date is called intake or the intake process.

The Intake Process

In most criminal cases this intake time period is the best opportunity to have charges dropped or reduced by the State Attorney’s Office. Each criminal case is assigned to an intake prosecutor who reviews the facts of your case, talks to witnesses and starts building a case against the accused. The intake prosecutor has the authority to file charges, drop charges or add charges. The intake attorney’s charging decision can be influenced by providing the prosecutor important factors often overlooked by the arresting officer and not documented in your police report

Once Hired, I Start Working Immediately on Your Case

Once retained, I will start to work on your criminal case immediately, before the State Attorney files formal charges. This pre-filing representation gives my clients the opportunity to influence the State Attorney’s filing decision and, in some cases, avoid being formally charged with the crime for which they were arrested. I take an aggressive approach and explore all your options for a successful solution to your case, with an emphasis on alternatives to a life-long criminal record. Hiring an aggressive criminal defense lawyer quickly after an arrest remains the most effective way to defend yourself against an unjust prosecution.

I Defend all Central Florida Criminal Offenses
